Archmage Bongo’s Large Board With A Nail Through

Level: 1

School: Conjuration

Range: 6’

Duration: Special

Area of Effect: 1 board

Components: V, S, M

Casting Time: 2

Saving Throw: None

Description: “Archmage” Bongo (who was nothing of the kind) was mostly inept and generally incompetent, he did however create some of the most unexpected spells the world has ever known.  Casting this spell transforms a normal floorboard (material component) into a temporary but powerful magical item.  Once cast the board sprouts a shimmering nail of potent destructive power.

The board with a nail through can be wielded like a quarter staff or a club and need not be used by the wizard.  The board gives no bonuses to hit, but is capable of striking any creature, doing 1d3 damage with no strength bonus, and stuns the creature for 1d3 rounds.  The spell lasts until the board scores a hit or until a number of rounds have passed equal to the level of the caster, in either case the board returns to its non-magical state.

The verbal component of this spell is the war cry, “Get your teeth ‘round this!” spoken while taking a practice swing with a normal floorboard.  Note, this spell cannot be cast and the board used in combat in the same round.

(This spell was developed for the world of Saas)
